How to Journal Your Faith
MYTH #1 Busted:
You don’t have to have a Journaling Bible to START journaling!
While having a special journaling Bible is nice, it’s not necessary. You can Bible journal as long as you have something to write on and write with… a napkin and lipstick will work just fine! Most of us like to have the excuses of not owning a journaling bible and saving up for one to before we get started… I’ve been there I know… but what I also have learned after journaling for 4 years is that you can journal on ANYTHING!
Check out the Journaling Bibles I own here.
MYTH #2 Busted:
You don’t have to be a creative to Bible Journal!
With all the awesome products and inspiration out there, bible journaling has never been easier! If you need somewhere to start I suggest grabbing a color yourself Bible like the Inspire Bible NTL ,My Creative Bible KJV or my favorite the Beautiful Word Coloring Bible . It allows you space to journal and create, as well as giving you some coloring prompts to work with.
Stickers and Digital Downloads make journaling super easy! See some here.
But if you are more of the adventurance type and take things head on, go for a plain journaling Bible with no premade designs in them like the ESV Single Column Bible or the NIV Journal the Word Bible.
How to Journal Your Faith
#1 Spend Time with God
You can use your sermon notes from the weekend, you favorite devotional, listen to worship music and be inspired!
#2 Pray Over It
Give it to God! Pray for him to allow this time for your to grow closer together and for you to not let the art be a hindrance.
#3 Play. Create. Repeat.
This process is meant to be fun, do what feels natural like simple notes in different colored pens or decorate it with some washi tape. Use stickers or printables for quick inspiration. Later add some paints to your process when you feel comfortable doing more and more techniques.
Don’t stress!
