Week 3 came and went… and I totally forgot to post & email my families this week… oops! Sometimes life happens! Once again I’m thankfully CC makes it easy for me to get our schoolwork in when we have so much going on! Thanks for being on this CC journey with me!
Remember CC has a great APP that you can get from iTunes and its worth the $$$ Get it Here! Seriously this in my Foundations Guide on the GO! And we are always on the go!
Here is a little recap of what we went over in class yesterday… you should totally look into Classical Conversations in your area!
Geography: We learned about the Hebrew Empire
I liked to learn the geography in order of where it is on the map and not the way it is listed in our Foundations Guide. So this week I taught it in this order:
Phoenicia, Israel, Sea of Galilee, Jordan River, Dead Sea, Judah
Phoenicia, Israel, Sea of Galilee, Jordan River, Dead Sea, Judah
*Remember to practice maps at home! The map for week 3 is on pg 217 in your CC Foundations Guide
We are using this kind of paper to trace our maps at home. It comes in a big roll and I just cut off what I need but you could use anything or just . The girls love it!
Timeline:
Remember I won’t be doing the motions in class because I don’t know the official cc ones… I know a different set, and many others only want to use ASL signs and not some of the official CC motions so I’m just making it easier and not teaching any in class… feel free to do WHATEVER you want at home!!! That’s why CC ROCKS!
Here is the link to the timeline motions on CCConnected or what we all call C3 –> CC Timeline Signs and Motions it will only allow you to log in and see this info if you are a member. Membership is $6 a month if you are a member of a community (another reason to join one) and you could just join for one month and then cancel. Also they have all the songs off the memory cd’s on here that you can download before Oct. 1
History: Greek and Roman Gods
English: Prepositions
We will be learning this version of the preposition song over the next weeks! FUN! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/196047389999726320/ BUT with a few changes! Maybe I’ll post a video of us doing our version of the preposition song… HA we shall see! There isn’t a right or wrong way to do motions to this song! LET ME REPEAT THAT!!!! There isn’t a right or wrong way to do motions to this song!!!! We need to make sure we are focusing on the actual prepositions and NOT the motions!!! Have fun with it but don’t stress about the motions!!!
Latin: 1st Declension Noun Endings, here is a great blog I came across Suzanne Shares and she has created a Latin packet for all of the cycles of cc. Each week she has a little packet to work on with VISUALS! So helpful!
Math: Skip Counting the 5’s (Row, Row, Row Your Boat) and 6’s (To Market)
Science: Animal Cell, animal has 6 letters and also six parts to the cell. There are a ton of color sheets out there (and on my pinterest board for week 3) to color and learn the parts.
Fine Arts: Mirror Image
Here is the book I use in class “Drawing With Children”. The first week we learned our 5 basic shapes of OiLs and how you can draw ANYTHING with these shapes! In week 3 we learned how to focus on just the lines and shapes of a drawing by Drawing Upside Down. Our left brains want to take over when we are drawing but if we let our creative right side shine through, we create better art. With the right side of our brain we see the art for what it is! We drew parrots and they all looked great! all very different but all very awesome!
Hands on Science: We use this book VanCleave’s 201 Awesome, Magical, Bizarre & Incredible Experiments in class.
Presentations: Next week’s (week 4) will be a Geography in topic and focus on pace while presenting! When we get nervous (and I do a LOT while speaking) we sometimes tend to speak too fast. Work on slowing down and clearly stating the information you want to present.
