In this month’s kit that my friend Becky Faulkner {from MyEmbracedGrace.com} sent me called “Gathering Peace & Harvesting Grace” (you can grab it in her Etsy Shop here) was this cool print she created for Zechariah 2:5.
“I will be to her, a wall of fire all around. I will be the glory in her midst.” – Zechariah 2:5
And like often, I have a million ideas pop into my head about what I could do with this print. That’s just how I am created but I understand that everyone’s brain doesn’t work like mine. SO that’s why I decided to do a few examples of this page for you, to see different ways it could be journaled with different supplies.
I made a few copies of the page of my Bible and a few copies of the print in October’s kit.
If you get the kit this month it will be printed on velum but I only had cardstock. I knew I wanted to cute around the flames, so I used my tiny scissors to cut it out. (I have a pair of these scissors that I like too!)
This page is going to use ink as the background. This ink color is from the Illustrated Faith “I am Strong Kit” (you can grab that kit here). But I just used the ink pad and pulled it across the page, mostly around the edges. I did the same with the tab at the top. You don’t have to push down hard at all, the ink will come off on the page easily.
I glued the print to the bottom of the page where you could see the words poke through the fire and added journaling to the sides. The pens I used were a Faber-Castelle Big Brush Pitt Pen in black and a Micron pen in 01 .
Next page example we are gonna to do what I like to call “schmear”some paint. Yes I totally made up that word! Dab a couple drops of paint on an card like above and then schmear it across the page.
After it drys, which doesn’t take long, you can add washi, journaling, the wall of fire print.
I loved adding extra more personal journaling underneath the print (used washi to create a “tip in”). and Next is the 3rd option where I used just a pen, wall of fire print and colored pencil! Journaling doesn’t have to be all fancy!
I liked how simple just a colored pencil and pen can be. Nothing fancy, just me and his word. On this page I journaled all the things HE protects me from. He is my HOLY FIRE!
I hope these 3 options of journaling help you to think outside of the box!
Thanks Becky for sending me this awesome kit to share with my readers and yours too! OMG, Ashley, I’m so lovin’ these pages. They have really spoken to me. Especially the one on not containing His Glory…Let it spread like fire. WOW, it really penetrated my heart so much. I mean all three pages are amazing but that one really spoke to my spirit. Thank you for your sweet and gentle spirit girlfriend. I love your style and inspiration to us. May God continue to use you in a mighty way.
