I don’t know about you but the holiday season is just getting started and I’m already getting frazzled. Hey it’s so easy to do and takes intention not to let the busyness overwhelm you… or in this case me.
Yesterday I was cleaning and picking up after the kiddos and a commercial on tv caught my eye. It was talking about the wonder & magic of Christmas. It’s been a long time since I have felt that Christmas magic. This year I want to change that. I want to get back to the wonder of Christmas, making Christmas about HIM instead of us and to find REST.
When I have thoughts of Christmas I think of REST. Comfy blankets sitting by a fire drinking something warm from a cute mug, snow falling outside and the twinkling of Christmas lights. That’s restful for me.
More time with family
more restful nights in the house cozied up with my kiddos
more scripture reading and Bible journaling through Advent,
is what I want this Christmas.
more family meals
more laughter
more memories made and told,
more stories of HIS goodness and life,
REST for my family is on my Christmas list.

In Matthew 11:28-30 MSG, it reads “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
