Bullet Journals + Travelers Notebook + Planners + Notebooks + Printables + The Happy Planner Faith Edition … so many options
That’s why I want to give you a free prayer sheet to help you in getting your prayers down on paper quicker!
You don’t need a beautiful leather-bound journal, colorful pens, fancy stickers, or an elaborate Bible study routine to start a prayer journal.
You just need somewhere to write and a willingness to begin.
Prayer journaling is simply a way to turn your conversations with God into written words.
It’s a place to bring your worries, your gratitude, your questions, your hopes, and even the things you don’t quite know how to say out loud.
And the beautiful thing?
You can start today, with what you might already have. Paper.
What You’ll Need
- A notebook you already have, a few sheets of paper, the Notes app on your phone, or my free prayer journal insert.
- A pen or pencil.
- Five quiet minutes. (And if you’re a mom, we both know quiet is optional!)
That’s it. No shopping trip required.
Literally just get some paper. It can be grid, lined, blank or a few sheets of my printable prayer journal insert.
Gather the paper together, then fold it to create a booklet.
You could cover it with a pretty piece of paper, pictures of your family, stickers or leave it blank.
You are done. You now have a journal.
If you need some ideas on what to journal here you go.
Your First Prayer Journal Entries
If you’re staring at a blank page wondering what to write, try these five simple prompts.
1. Today, I’m thankful for…
Start with gratitude. Even on difficult days, there is usually something small worth noticing.
2. God, here’s what’s on my heart…
Write about whatever you’re carrying. The good, the difficult, the overwhelming, or the ordinary. Nothing is too small to bring before Him.
3. Lord, I need Your help with…
Maybe it’s patience with your children, wisdom about a decision, peace in your circumstances, or simply the strength to get through today.
4. Today, I’m praying for…
Write down the names of people who need encouragement, healing, guidance, or prayer.
5. God, help me remember…
Finish with a Scripture, a truth about God’s character, or something you want to hold onto throughout the day.
Your Journal Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect
Some days, you might fill three pages. Other days, you might write three sentences.
Some prayers will be beautifully worded. Others might simply say, “Lord, I’m tired. Please help me.”
Both belong in your journal.
There are no rules about how long you should write, how often you should journal, or what your pages should look like.
The goal isn’t to create a beautiful journal. It’s to create a place where you can be honest with God.
And you can begin right now.
