One of the things I *HOPE* to do here on my blog is give moms some encouragement! As a mom of 5, I KNOW how hard this motherhood gig is and it’s constantly bringing me to my knees and questioning everything.
Motherhood Monday | Week 19 of 2019
Here are a few little nuggets of truth and encourage for this week.
PS: Mother’s Day is this Sunday!!!
“The most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home.” -Harold B. Lee
“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” – John 6:27
Food: I encourage you to cook more home cooked meals for your family! I know it can be hard to make time to cook instead of pick up take up but home cooked is so much better for you. UNLESS cooking is just not your thing! When I have food in the fridge and a stocked pantry I LOVE COOKING! I made is yummy, not too sweet (I used half the sweetener the recipe called for) Low Carb Zucchini Bread and I slathered it with some butter for a treat from breaking my fast today. Have you ever paid attention to what you are eating?! I was consuming 1200 caleories in one meal?! Say What?! I now enter my food into MyFitnessPal App and keep track of my macros to know what it is I’m eating and I’m making better food choices because of it!
“He gives power to the faint, abundant strength to the weak. Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, they that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.” – Isaiah 40:29-31
Fitness: I’m doing a fitness program called FASTer Way and today is low carb. Y’all I like, no correction, LOVE carbs! And on this plan I still get to have plenty of them, just not today or tomorrow! I have lost 10lbs so far and I’m so happy with my results and just 1/3 of the way through the program!) Since doing this program I’ve joined the Gym at PlanetFitness and I’ve been working out at least 3 days a week. Last week I was so proud of myself I worked out everyday except Saturday, whoops I ran out of time! But one Thing I need is to get some AirPods! I’ve been exercises with the cord dangling from my phone and let’s just say it’s not safe! lol I’ve tripped, pulled them out, and have got them tangled. I need some airpods for my safety! If you want to learn more about FASTer Way click here.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” – Psalm 127:3
Mom of Littles: I’m am NOT the mom you probably think I am. I love the newborn stage, but those little things grow up. I hate polite mushy talk to free range toddlers that rule their roost! I believe kids should NOT run your household! I’m not giving my kids everything they want (even they are yes 100% spoiled!) I am not perfect and my kids have tantrums. I want to cry and scream and sometimes do. I found this read helpful. Most of the time I read parenting posts and roll my eyes. This post on Toddler Tantrums https://preemiemomtips.com/handle-toddler-tantrums/ made me see a different side to those tantrums.
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”
Proverbs 31:26
Mom of PreTeens: Like that advice in the post above… repeat to yourself “I love this pre teen person.” Play that in your mind on repeat! Over and Over again! You need to realize your parenting created this. AND it’s going to take some self discipline on your part to fix this. BUT ALSO there are these things called hormones. Yep! Fun stuff! Make sure your preteen is eating the right foods and not using products that are complete hormone disruptors (like their deodorant, shampoo, face wash, laundry soap etc.)
I only use non toxic products for my household. Each month I get free products from Young Living because I’m a member of their Loyalty Program called Essential Rewards. If you aren’t aware of the chemicals in your current household and personal products, take a look, you might be shocked to find so many toxic ingredients! If you would like to know more about Young Living and the Products they offer check out this post.
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” – Proverbs 31:25
Fashion: I love finding cute clothes on Jane.com Right now I’m crushing on some dresses and skirts over there. Only thing is you have to act quick on Jane or your wants will be gone. Items I’m crushing on:
Floral Pencil Skirt | Chambray Stripe Dress | Polka Dot Button Down Dress
And these mom tees!
“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” – Proverbs 31:30
Beauty: I don’t know if you have seen Jasmine Rea’s IG feed about Hair Training but you need to check it out. I’ve been going between hair washings for about 10 days. It’s amazing! What mama doesn’t want to wash her hair everyday?! I know this one doesn’t want to. Head over to Jasmine Rae IG Feed to learn more. She also uses the same curling iron and straightener I just got on sale. Check out L’Ange’s Mother Day Sale!
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22
Faith: I think as moms, all we do is run around with a million things on our plates, never feeling like we have time for our relationship with Jesus (except for all these prayers we keep begging for His help!) That why I love the devotional books by Shanna Noel call 100 Days and she just released her newest one called 100 Days of Less Hustle More Jesus. This Devo provides scripture, room to journal, prayers to pray and invited us to rest in Jesus and His peace. I already picked up my copy so I’ll have it ready to go June 1st when the Illustrating Faith will be starting this devo together!
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21
Finances: I seem to never have enough money when it comes to our grocery budget because I ALWAYS make the mistake of bringing all 5 kiddos and the hubby with me to the grocery store! However I love 2 things when it comes to grocery shopping, our Sam’s Club Membership and Walmart Grocery Pickup!
I love both of these because I can do pickup at both and load my cart throughout the week on the apps and see just how much I’m spending or planning on spending! At Sam’s we buy in bulk, but honestly with our family of 7 it’s not bulk at all! I plan on 2 trips a month to Sam’s Club (one is larger than the other) and about 2 trips on Walmart Grocery Pickup for smaller items and specialties.
Plus Sam’s Club is having an awesome sale this weekend!
I know this is a random list but I had some things (a lot of things) I wanted to share with you! I hope you have a great Mother’s Day and stay encouraged on this crazy ride called motherhood!
– Much Love Ashley
